So our original plan in Mirissa was to check into our hotel, have some dinner, get to bed early so that we could be on a boat at 06:30 for whale and dolphin watching. Then right after that would be a three hour drive back to the airport.
What really happened is that poor Jeffrey was nursing a cold and I could have used a little rest myself. When we walked into The Fortress and saw the pool we changed our plans immediately.
And so we spent 24 hours lounging around our hotel pool listening to the waves crashing into the beach.
Sri Lanka is known for the “stilt fisherman”. They have driven stilts into the sand and then perch on them to catch fish. You can see the stilts in the picture above sort of in the water/on the beach.
Local kids also played on the beach and surfers were out catching waves.
Sunset was amazing.
And definitely relaxing!
We’ll need it because our next stop is Oman and there is lots to see and do!
