Wow oh wow. We arrived at the hotel around 9:30p and checked into our beautiful Park View Suite. The hotel itself is located inside the former Austrian National Bank and so has a very solid and rich feel to the common areas. It faces out onto the Viennese square known as am Hof. The area is nearly all pedestrian walkways in the old city.
Our room was 226 and overlooked the side walkway where Zum Schwarzen Cameel is located. This restaurant is celebrating its 400th anniversary in 2018 and is known as a favorite haunt of Beethoven in his time. It is still incredibly popular, there never was a time that it wasn’t mobbed with people drinking champagne and eating popular Viennese open-faced sandwiches.
Our room was incredible, with a beautiful entryway.
To the left was the dressing room.
And to the right was the bathroom, which was gigantic, two sinks, and all marble. Full rain shower experience that made it difficult to leave in the morning.
Directly ahead from the entryway is the living room, with 16 foot ceilings and windows that opened up onto the walkway below.
The very kind general manager left us some fresh fruit and a holiday panettone from their bakery.
Finally, through the doorway from the living room was the bedroom. Also with 16 foot ceilings and also with a window that opened to the walkway below.
We were stunned just how gorgeous this room was and honestly didn’t want to leave it. But Vienna awaits! So while we used the heck out of the room we saw our fair share of sights.
