The white rhinoceros is one of the most endangered species in the world. In all of Zambia there are only nine left, and each of them are under armed guard 24 hours daily. We saw two of them.
To see them we had to take about a 30 minute drive from Toka Leya to where the rhinos were seen this afternoon. Once there we met our guards, Eric and Axel, who escorted us to the rhinos.
After a short walk, we came upon two of the rhinos.
A mother and baby. Apparently this baby is the fourth from this mother.
We stood and silently (and humbly) watched the mother and baby interact until it was snack time for the baby. At that point we left and started our game drive.
