On our last morning in Franschhoek we enjoyed breakfast in the dining room of our farmhouse and then our driver took us to the Cape Town airport, about an hour away.
We boarded, took off, and were on our way to Doha which is a 10 hour flight from Cape Town.
Our last day was our only cloudy day during our Africa trip.
We landed in Doha at about midnight.
Then ran to the lounge and got rooms to rest in as our connecting flight to Chicago didn’t leave until 7:45a.
After a fitful night (although better than sitting upright for 8 hours!) we left on our last leg for Chicago.
14 hours later we touched down in…Rockford. There were fierce thunderstorms rocking O’Hare and so we were diverted to Rockford until they cleared three hours later.
After a 20 minute flight we touched down this time at a rainy O’Hare.
Home.
There will be a couple more posts related to this trip, including one with videos. So keep an eye for those!
