One great reason to come to Hong Kong is to eat dim sum. This is the epicenter of the dim sum world and the options are endless. There are, however, a few standout places. We managed to hit two: One Dim Sum and Tim Ho Wan.
Here is the sign that greets you at One Dim Sum:
And line up people do. There was a line at this place when we walked by at lunch, and when we got back for dinner several hours later there still was a line. But they turn ’em over quickly, so you’re not standing for long.
For lunch we managed to get to Tim Ho Wan — the world’s most inexpensive Michelin starred restaurant. We went to the Wan Chai location because it seemed like it would be less busy than their locarion in Central and we wanted another opportunity to ride the trams (next post!).
If you haven’t had dim sum, you usually are presented with a menu like this along with a pencil. In the little boxes next to the dish you mark how many you want.
And then minutes later, this will show up in front of you.
Lumch for two = $20 at Tim Ho Wan. Go if you can.
And how do you get betweem these places? Why taxi, of course. Taxis are one of the few things that are inexpensive in Hong Kong.
