One of our favorite restaurants from our last around the world trip, we knew we’d return to Yardbird during this visit. In fact we practically came here directly from the airport.
Yardbird is one of those incredibly fun and lively Hong Kong restaurants in the Soho area of Hong Kong Island, just off Hollywood Road in the mid-levels. It was date night, so particularly lively this night.
They have a dish on the menu from every part of a chicken — beak to butt — and it’s all incredibly delicious. You’d be surprised what parts of the chicken you’ll eat when it’s presented the way Yardbird does.
We started off with edamame and their famous sweet corn tempura fritters.
I won’t bore you with more other than this one. Chicken meatballs dipped in egg yolk swimming in soy sauce. You take the skewered meatball and swirl it around in the yolk/soy and then gobble. Incredible.
Oh wait, one more: KFC, also known as Korean Fried Cauliflower. Seriously it tastes JUST like chicken. Don’t know how they do it, but wow oh wow is it good.
Dinner for two is about $100 plus drinks. And they serve a Bloody Kim Jong Il (a bloody mary with kimchi!) if you’re so inclined. Located at 33 Bridges St, open 6p-midnight daily. You can see more including their menu at http://yardbirdrestaurant.com
