We had a quick 11 hour trip across the Pacific — too short — and arrived in Los Angeles at the ungodly hour of 0600. After spending far too much time at Dollar rent-a-car we were on our way to the Andaz West Hollywood. It’s our 7th and final hotel of the trip and once again we were in a suite.
The hotel is located on Sunset Boulevard near the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. It’s a great location, which is why I chose the property as our base for the next three days. After checking in we came up to our room and focused on staying awake so that we could break our Asia clock cycle. Here’s our room:
The suite actually has two full bathrooms and a panoramic view of Los Angeles from the 11th floor. Here’s a nice sunrise pic over downtown Los Angeles.
While it’s a great location and the suite is huge this hotel really isn’t great. Once you get past the really nice lobby the hallways and rooms appear to have been done on the cheap and the room isn’t aging well. Staff is disinterested at best (with a couple of exceptions).
We really couldn’t recommend staying here despite the plusses and I’m glad we’re only spending $125 a night to stay here.
