Easily one of the most beautiful places on earth, the Hagia Sofia does not disappoint. Built in 537 (!) as a Christian church, it was the largest building in the world for nearly 1000 years. It was converted to a mosque int he 1400s, and then finally into a museum in the 1939s. Today it is the supreme destination for visitors to Istanbul.
These photos can’t even relate the stunning beauty of the Hagia Sofia. We’re lucky to have seen it in person. If you can swing it, put it on your list of places to see.
