When we got back down from the Peak, we walked over to the Soho/Hollywood Road area of Central Hong Kong (also known just as “Central”).
Along the way we took a short ride on the Mid-Levels Escalators. These are the world’s longest outdoor elevators and are used by residents to commute to/from work up/down the mountains. Otherwise it would be a very steep walk or a switch-backy car or taxi ride. A very clever solution.
Just near the Mid-Levels Escalators we found a fun street market selling mostly fruits, vegetables, and meats. Shopkeepers we really quite friendly and spoke really great Chinglish.
