We certainly had a wide variety of guesses in the Hot Towel Contest — they ranged between 14 and 73. Ultimately it was a number between those two. In order to make sure we kept an accurate accounting, I kept a running log of where we received hot towels.
We were given the following hot towels:
1. On Cathay Pacific flight between Chicago and Hong Kong we received a total of eight; four each on the flight
2. In The Upper House limo from Hong Kong airport to the hotel we received two; one each
3. On Cathay Pacific flight between Hong Kong and Mumbai we received two each, for a total of four
4. In The Oberoi limo from Mumbai airport to the hotel, we received one each for a total of two
5. During our ride around on our first day in Mumbai when we hired a driver, we received one each for a total of two
6. On Qatar Airway flight between Mumbai and Doha we received two each, fir a total of four
7. In the Premium Transfer Lounge at the Doha airport, we received two each for a total of four
8. On Qatar Airways flight between Doha and Istanbul, we received three each for a total of six
9. On British Airways flight between Istanbul and London, we received one each, for a total of two
10. At the Rotisserie Counter in the Harrod’s Food Halls for lunch, we received one each for a total of two
11. And finally, on British Airways flight from London to Chicago we received a meager one towel each for a total of two
When you add them all together you get 38 Hot Towels!
That makes our winner Chris Rado, who guessed 37 Hot Towels. A close runner-up was Lisa (aka Erica, our barista) who guessed 34. Our winner will receive a lovely trivia game appropriately called “Around the World in 80 Cards, the Whistle Stop Edition” which we picked up in a gift shop in Greenwich.
We had something else picked out but when we saw this item it just seemed too perfect to pass up. It will go out in the mail in the next week or so.
Congratulations, Chris, well done!
