We’re off on our next adventure, this time to Portugal and Spain! We call it our Iberian Adventure.
We’ll start in the capital of cool, Lisbon. Seems like over the last three years that everyone has made it a point to visit Lisbon and uniformly the reviews are positive.
Lisbon is known for its hills and apparently they manage to situate themselves so that you’re always walking uphill, never down. Fortunately they have their famous trams to help you!
Lisbon is the town that launched many of the world’s great explorers – Ferdinand Magellan and Vasco de Gama among them. It is believed that Portugese explorers were responsible for discovering more than 70% of the world previously unknown to Europeans! We expect to eat about 70% of the world’s known pasteis de nata, the little Portugese egg custard tarts.
After Lisbon we’ll hop over to Madrid for some great art, architecture, and more history – more than 1,000 years of it. The home of Ferdinand and Isabella all the way through to Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar.
We’ll visit the world famous Prado along with other world-class museums and, of course, enjoy some tapas.
Madrid is one of the European capitals that lives in the shadow of other more glamorous destinations. But it is not to be overlooked!
