Leopards usually are very difficult to sight because they are lying around up in the trees looking for lunch. They blend in really well and even if you do see them the tree is usually in the way of a good picture. But we got very fortunate.
We were on our evening game drive at Savuti and came around a bend when our driver spotted the leopard walking on the road ahead of us.
We followed it for a few dozen yards and it just didn’t seem the least bit bothered by us.
Ahead of us was this extraordinarily picturesque bridge over a wetland.
Our driver figured that the leopard would cross over to hunt in his area on the other side, so we drove across the bridge and waited. Sure enough the leopard started to cross over the bridge after us, which provided some tremendous picture opportunities.
Once the leopard crossed over it jumped into the grass to begin hunting.
Isn’t it amazing how they blend in to the grass so easily?
We stayed and watched it until the sun went down.
Such a beautiful animal!
