We are finally on our way to our next adventure in Africa! After our obligatory 1+ hour trip to O’Hare, we boarded our Qatar Airways flight to Doha. Our full routing is Chicago-Doha-Johannesburg-Livingstone.
On this trip we’re flying in the Qatar Airways QSuites. They are a lovely Business Class suite that comes furnished with a door for privacy. It’s not nearly as spacious as the Etihad Airways Apartment that we flew on our last trip, but it’s also Business Class versus First Class.

Flight time is about 13 hours for this leg and we’ll be served dinner and breakfast.

Our candlelit dinner began with a cocktail and warm nuts.
I opted for the selection of snacks which wound up being different than I imagined. I was thinking cocktail snacks and it really was more of an appetizer tray.

This means I skipped the soup and the appetizers and went directly to my main, for which I selected the salmon.

We finished up with a cheesecake for dessert. Totally couldn’t finish it!

By the time dinner was done, it was time to have the flight attendant make up our beds for (hopefully) a few hours of sleep. In the end we got about 5 solid hours which was followed by breakfast.
So now we’re in the glamorous Qatar Airways Al Safwa Lounge. That’s the restaurant behind the fountain.

The lounge has private rooms with showers, and you can stay in them for up to 6 hours so that everyone gets a turn.

Although it looks like we’re the only people here in the lounge tonight. We had a little nosh in the restaurant.

The bar was open but serving only mocktails since it is Ramadan right now.

The lounge is gorgeous, we’ll be back here on our way home. Loved this waterfall wall.

We’re here for about 9 hours as we await our next flight, which will take us to Johannesburg!
