One of the delights of sitting on our terrace at 98 Acres was watching and listening to the wildlife. At sunrise and sunset the birds were very vocal and active. After dark the frogs croaked in a loud chorus.
Sri Lanka is known as a bird watchers paradise as there are dozens of species that are unique to the island. Aside from wild parrots and (we think) parakeets, we saw a few lovely birds.
This we think we is a parakeet.
We have no idea what this bird is but it sure is beautiful!
This little guy really enjoyed our offering of crackers.
These doves were doing what looked like a mating dance. At least we think they were doves and maybe we’re projecting. Hah.
These birds were hanging around most of the time just watching life go by.
This bird had a beautiful call that we managed to catch on video.
In the video you can also hear the chatter of other birds in the area as well as the general peace and quiet of the grounds. It was so easy to just sit and listen to them all day.
