Right behind the Gold Souk in old Dubai is the Spice Souk.
A mere shadow of it’s former self it nevertheless holds some interest to those of us who are used to shopping at American grocery stores.
There were, however, some surprises in this spice market, starting with giant barrels and bags of frankensense
And something else you don’t usually see: indigo (the blue stuff in the picture below).
And that is myrrh on in the bin on the left. The yellow substance is used to moisturize yout skin, it is a fat of some origin. The white rocks are sold in the U.S. as a natural deoderant.
The Spice Souk can be found near Deira Street in old Dubai, across Dubai Creek from where the magic happens every day in new Dubai.
