There has been a bridge over the Golden Horn (the body of water between old Istanbul — Sultanahmet — and the area of our hotel — Beyoglu) since the 6th century.
The current bridge was built in 1992 to accommodate modern traffic as well as a light rail line.
Each day fisherman throng the bridge to fish for local catch such as mackeral and anchovies. Since this is anchovy season right now, those were the fish that seemed to be coming up most often.
The bridge is enormously busy, between the foot traffic, cars, trams, boats underneath the bridge itself.

What goes better with fish than simit?
