We finally arrived — it took us about 20 hours altogether from door-to-door, but we’re here. Some interesting things along the way.
A series of aerial photos since for the whole day we were either sitting in the Premium Terminal or flying. Our flight path from Doha to Istanbul took us north along the east coast of Saudi Arabia, over Kuwait, directly over Baghdad and then we continued north to Turkey.
First up is an aerial view of Doha as we departed:
Next up is the entire country of Bahrain:
The rest of the way we only saw thick clouds until we started our descent into Istanbul. But we did fly directly over Baghdad in Iraq and then straight north before we took a left turn as we entered Turkey. I think they were trying to avoid Syrian airspace.
You can’t see it here because it’s night, but we are going to see a stunning view in the morning!
