This place is rocking the art world right now. Mainly because of the setting. Just looking at you’d never know this was an art museum.
There was an old grain silo near the waterfront in Cape Town that fell into disuse. In the last couple of years it’s been converted into the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Despite misgivings, the setting really does work.
We walked all six floors and found some nice pieces to admire.
Loved the photography!
This was a really amusing piece about the Zambian space program.
But the real beauty of the museum was a tremendously moving diorama of the African experience by William Kentridge.
If you’re interested, here is a video of the entire diorama. It was fantastic.
It’s a really interesting museum and worth a stop on your itinerary.
And if you’re looking for a nice lunch spot, there is a restaurant on the rooftop.
