The last Gaudi creation of our trip was Parc Güell. The park was built between 1900 and 1914 and was opened to the public in 1926.
The park was built on several levels with the main staircase allowing you to traverse the levels.
The highest level is a sandy rampart that is bracketed by a serpentine wall and seating created in the Gaudi style.
At the front of this area you have a nice view of the park and Barcelona below.
Below the top level is an open area where the entire ceiling is decorated in the Gaudi style. It was remarkable.
Around the perimeter of the park is a walkway called the “washerwoman’s walkway” because one of the columns has what looks like a laundry woman carved into it.
In reality these columns are load-bearing for the roadway above. They were amazing!
