Another fine example of Gaudi’s work in an apartment building. Casa Batllo (pronounced “bye-yo”) was built in 1877 but Gaudi redesigned it in 1904 for the family Batllo.
As with other Gaudi masterpieces it is curvy and rounded and smooth and devoid of right angles unless forced.
Even the doors to the apartments are rounded and topped with Gaudi’s own font. Here is the door to apartment G.
The ceilings also reflect that style and perhaps echo a theme of water. Doesn’t this look like a drop of water landing in a pool?
Then up on the roof are more of Gaudi’s confections, echoing those that we saw that decorated pipes on the roof of La Pedrera.
A beautiful visit to the third of four places that we’ll see that Gaudi designed, the last being Parc Guell.
