After our zip up the Eiffel Tower we went back into the Metro to go across Paris to Montmartre. This used to be the mythical Paris that everyone imagined when they thought of Paris. It’s the Paris that has shown up in countless movies. Today the reality is a bit different, it’s overrun with tourists and souvenir shops. Not nearly as charming, but there were still a few sights to be had and enjoy.
We did manage to stroll past the Moulin Rouge, which of course is underwhelming.
On the plus side we found a little bistro we could stop at for a lunch of croque Monsieurs and a beer before we ascended the mont to the Sacre-Coeur.
People everywhere and it’s not even high season yet! But Lisa is doing her very best Where’s Waldo? imitation.
Once at the top you turn around and have some lovely views of Paris.
And of course the Basilica as well.
