Dinner tonight at a place called Bocanariz in our Santiago neighborhood, which is called Lastarria.
It’s a wine-bar-cum-restaurant where the menu was a little confusing (but delish) and they offered Flights of Chilean wine. You could select your flight by region and then the food menu was divided by flavor so that you could successfully pair your wine flight.
Trouble was that Jeff (who has gone to the white side) was drinking white and I was drinking red and so we wound up ordering two apps each that each turned out to be sizable. So we never actually got to the mains. Nevertheless, we were pleased with what we got, just confused by why we got it.
At the end, however, our waiter Patricio made everything good by taking us on a private tour of their wine cellar.
As you can imagine they had an extensive wine list so it was quite nice that they had organized them into flights.
I know at least two of you out there that will be able to name the cheese on the right side of our cheese plate – the one that is missing a couple of tranches due to two very impatient boys who gobbled them up.
Lastly, below is a shoutout to our Chicago peeps who will recognize the name of the movie theatre that was across the street from our restaurant in Lastarria.
