We’re utterly addicted to this sort of trip! If you haven’t done it, try it, you’re gonna love it. This will be our 3rd time around the world in one trip and simply can’t wait. The trip looks like this:
Seoul
We’ll kick it off in Seoul, the capital of South Korea and the Land of Samsung. Korea is a definite hole on our Asian map and we’re excited to start this trip here. Seoul is a city of over 20 million people where they have a palace that once had over 7,000 rooms in it!
Lots to see and do in Seoul — hoping to make it to the border with North Korea so we can stick our toes over the line, hopefully without getting kidnapped.
Ho Chi Minh City
We’re thrilled to be going back to Vietnam — what an amazing place. People rave about HCMC, but I think a lot of that is because they haven’t been to Hanoi. It’s difficult to imagine it being better, but we’ll find out!
Of course the best thing about being in Vietnam (aside from the people) is eating Vietnamese food and drinking Vietnamese coffee. Can’t wait to get back to both!
Sri Lanka
Oh yes, we’re doin’ it. We think this is a highly overlooked world destination. Tormented by a civil war for over 20 years that ended in 2009, Sri Lanka is starting to coming into its own. Known for its tea plantations we think this will be the centerpiece of the trip.
Surprisingly lots to see and do here we’re worried that we won’t have enough time to see everything we want to!
Muscat
Where you ask? MUSCAT. OMAN. It’s on the Arabian Peninsula, driving distance from Dubai but a whole world away.
Muscat is a small city situated on the Gulf of Oman across which lies Iran. It has a history dating back thousands of years and we can’t wait to get here. We’re hoping to see the camels we had to miss on our Abu Dhabi stop not to mention they have a Persian Carpet that can seat 20,000 people. Imagine the cleaning bill for that sucker, cause it’s not gonna fit in the washer.
Vienna
Our last stop on this trip will be the very polished city of Vienna. The home of Mozart, Wienerschnitzel, and Sachertorte.
Staying in the old city we plan to join the New Year’s festivities before returning to Chicago on New Year’s day.
Almost 21,000 miles covered in two weeks. You’re going to want to join us for this trip, it’s going to be great!
