We flew south from Singapore across Java in Indonesia. Thunderstorms were building as we crossed over the southern coastline and began our journey over the eastern Indian Ocean to western Australia.
We got a nice view of the northern coastline of Australia as we crossed it. It looked to be a beautiful sunny day down there although I suspect that’s the standard weather.
Something going on down there with all those ships in the middle of nowhere.
Below is great shot of an estuary.
Once you fly inland the landscape turns red.
Unfortunately we didn’t fly close enough to Ayer’s Rock to see it. Would have been exceedingly lucky had that happened.
Anyway somewhere around 7:30p, approximately 33 hours after we left JFK, we found ourselves circling Melbourne before we touched down at Tullamarine Airport.
And now we’re settling into our Suite at the Park Hyatt. Tomorrow is our first full day in Australia!
