We really enjoyed having you along with us for our trip to Australia and New Zealand. If you haven’t had the chance to get to both places definitely try to add them to your list. The natural beauty alone is worth the effort of getting to the other side of the earth.
We were a little worried about the time of the year we decided to go since the days were going to be shorter and it had the potential to be cold. But it turned out that the day lengths put a natural end to our plans that was necessary otherwise we might have tried to cram even more into a day. As for the weather it turned out to be quite warm in Australia — mid to upper 70s — and quite comfortable in New Zealand — mostly 50s with some 60s in Auckland. There really was only one unpleasant day that we had in Dunedin and that was more about the torrents of rain than the temperature. We had the bonus of seeing the autumn leaves and having snowcapped peaks in the Southern Alps in New Zealand. Overall we feel we made a good choice with the timing.
Getting to and from was a challenge even in the super comfortable way we travelled. There is no doubt that traveling 48 consecutive hours is tiring regardless of how you go. At one point over the Atlantic we realized that the sun was setting in Singapore AGAIN and we were still hours from home. But if you do go, try not to go Economy. Even a more direct routing to Melbourne or Sydney is a 24 hour journey.
So we hope you enjoyed the journey and look forward to having you with us on our next adventure this winter when we visit Barcelona and the French Riviera with a New Year’s Eve celebration in Paris!
Take care –
Alex + Jeff
