As we go into our final week before we leave, we’d like to welcome everyone to the new home of our blog. Hopefully (and I really mean it this time!) this is the last move we’ll make.
So our current plan is as follows:
Sat, Dec 12 — Chicago-Toronto-London
The leg between Toronto and London is on Air Canada’s new 787-800 aircraft in International Business Class. I’m really looking forward to this as it will be the first time we fly a 787.
Then we overnight in London and on
Mon, Dec 14 — London-Abu Dhabi
This is the jewel leg as we’ll be flying on Etihad in what they call their First Apartment on their A380. It looks like this:
Yes, that’s right. In addition to your First Class chair you also get a private sofa (that turns into a bed).
Thu, Dec 17 — Abu Dhabi-Bangkok
After a couple of days in the Middle East, we once again board Etihad in First Class, although not in an Apartment, as we head to Bangkok for our first ever visit to Thailand.
Sun, Dec 20 — Bangkok-Siem Reap
Next up is Siem Reap, Cambodia, the home of Angkor Wat
Unfortunately we’re only able to spend one day here, so have a very tight plan to see the major temples before we fly off to Hanoi.
Mon, Dec 21 — Siem Reap-Hanoi
We spend 5 days in and around Hanoi with the highlights of the stop being day trips to Halong Bay
And Ninh Binh
Not to mention all the markets in Hanoi!
Sat, Dec 26 — Hanoi-Hong Kong
And then one of our very favorite spots on the planet — Hong Kong. What an amazing place this is and we can’t wait to get back to it.
This time we won’t feel so pressured to see stuff so we’ll be able to spend more time just wandering. Can’t wait!
Tue, Dec 29 — Hong Kong-Los Angeles
And then finally, we’ll board a Cathay Pacific 777-300ER in First in their crazy big suites and jet our way across the Pacific for our last stop of the trip, Los Angeles.
This will be Jeffrey’s first time in LA, so we’ve gone full-on LA by renting a convertible for our time there.
Fri, Jan 1 — Los Angeles-Chicago
We’ll spend New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles and return to Chicago on New Year’s Day! I’m sure it will be over before we know it.
