After our lovely day in Bruges, we headed back to Brussels by train. Some of us had a reeeeally good time and even were compelled to try on our purchases from our day in Bruges.
In the plaza in front of the Bruges train station you’ll find concrete chairs scattered about just begging to be sat in. Not comfortable, but funny to see.
Once home we found a wonderful little restaurant in Ste-Gilles that served Steak Tartare (finally!) and a wonderful little vegetable concoction called “stoempe” which is mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts – a uniquely Belgian dish.
This was our last meal as a group on the trip. Tomorrow Lisa returns to Dallas and Pam and Karen return to Dayton. But not before Brussels revealed to us one last surprise on our walk home from dinner.
Translated it announces that this is the building in which Audrey Hepburn was born. Yep, right near tired but cute Ste-Gilles close to our apartment.
