Our last full day of the trip and we chose to take a day trip to the remarkable city of Bruges.
Bruges dates from the 1100s and was once as important as Venice due to its proximity to the coast and a special inlet that gave it access to the sea.
Over time it’s importance faded until now it has become an important tourist destination in northern Europe due to its sizeable intact medieval architecture.
Everywhere you turn in Bruges you’re faced with beauty.
The old city is laced with canals which surround the old market.
The gigantic tower that looms over the square is the Belfry that dates to the 1400s and is known for its carillon of bells that regularly ring. They rang almost the whole time we were in Bruges and were gorgeous.

There are many, many smaller squares around Bruges, and some host musical performances others dancing.

As you can see we once again had stunning weather.
