This is the famous fish market that people drag themselves out of bed at 3:00a for the chance to be among the lucky 120 people that day to stand for two hours in a freezing cold room to go see the tuna auction happen. We weren’t so into that plan, but did want to go to the fish market for a legendary lunch of super fresh sushi.
So we made it over there at around 11am just as the stalls in the inner market were closing up. Hah.
Unless you eat sushi and then they make it in front of you. We found a place that looked pretty good, had a line, but was manageable — we got in within 10 minutes.
And within another 10 were presented with a wonderfully delicious and fresh sushi lunch. Washed it down with a Kirin beer and we were on our way to the rest of our day.
