The grounds of the Imperial Palace are manicured within an inch of their lives. You can tell they’ve soent some time training the trees and bushes and are maniacal with the grass. There is a beautiful forest of hundreds of Black Pine trees.
Then as you get closer you begin to see the buildings associated with the Imperial Palace.
And then as you wind around the grounds you finally see this bridge from old Tokyo.
Overall reminiscent of the Forbidden City in Beijing but not nearly as rich in history or as accessible. Of course, the actual royal family continues to live in the Imperial Palace whereas the Chinese royal family left the Forbidden City in 1912 after leaving the throne and never returning.
