The Andes have been playing hide and seek since we got here.
The first day it was extremely hazy so we only saw outlines of the mountains and they looked very far away.
Next two days it rained so we saw pretty much nothing was knee deep water rushing through the streets.
Yesterday it was gorgeous, but our itinerary took us west to the coast and Valparaiso.
This morning was our chance, so we went back up to the top of Cerro San Cristobal and were rewarded with the stunning photos below.

The mountains immediately adjacent to Santiago reach 17,000 feet in height. There are others, behind these that reach as high as 21,000 feet!
We just could not get enough of this view — so amazing!
