Our neighborhood in Santiago is quite cute. It’s very reminiscent of the Palermo Hollywood neighborhood in Buenos Aires.
Tonight we tried to make it to a restaurant in Providencia, which is to the east of La Starria, but once again were stymied by the rain. Cabs were not to be found, and even if you could get one you would be sitting in gridlock like we were last night on the Tour Bus El Diablo.
So we marched. This is me following Jeffrey as we tried to walk to our first restaurant selection, Astrid y Gaston. In pelting rain it just didn’t seem like the same great idea it was when we were standing in our hotel.
So we turned around and headed back to Lastarria and found this little bistro. Dinner was lovely.
Our waiter was about 24 and from Venezuela via New York so spoke English with a Bronx accent. Thank goodness, because this was the first menu we ran into that was difficult to translate.
Then after dinner finished around 23h, we walked back to Su Merced and came upon this scene. The rain has finally stopped, the clouds are parting, and tonight is the first night where we felt a chill in the air. But oh how beautiful Lastarria looks after the rain at night.
