We finally arrived at Gare de l’Est at just about 5:20. Turns out the tracks on the usual route were under repair and our train was rerouted which caused a 30 minute delay.
As soon as we arrived at Gare de l’Est we bought our 6 day jump-the-queue Museum Pass for €69 and a carnet of Metro tickets for each of us. Then we hopped into a taxi that took us to the Park Hyatt Vendome.
Oh my. We had already booked a suite for our stay but the hotel graciously had upgraded us to the next category suite higher.
We were taken to our room and when they opened the door we may have gasped. Here are some pictures from our home for the next 6 days.
First our living room with the fireplace.
A pic of our lovely sofa.
Then the gigantic marble bathroom.
Our separate bedroom.
And then our balcony overlooking the Rue de la Paix.
Jeff, of course, is over the moon as the room really is gorgeous. And to help celebrate his birthday they sent a beautiful bottle of champagne to the room! Wonderful.
Further, they kindly upgraded Pam and Karen from a standard room to the room we had originally booked, the Park Suite. And sent them a bottle of champagne as well to recognize Pam’s birthday! Truly a warm welcome from the Park Hyatt Vendome.
At the end of the evening we settled into our suite to get some rest for our first big day in Paris tomorrow. Here’s the view from our gorgeous bedroom. Not a bad day at all!
